THIS WEEK AT FLYING START KINGSCLIFF PRESCHOOL: 

We started off the week with our Monday visit to St Anthony's Library where we had the opportunity to read some of the amazing books the school has available. We have been enjoying introducing puppets into our daily activities to have discussions around listening as this is our first social skill.

The Flying Start Preschooler's have enjoyed making necklaces, bracelets and keychains, this fine motor skill will help give children the strength to write as well as letter formation. 

Tuesday is Beardie day! Our resident Bearded Dragon is well loved among our Preschoolers, on Tuesday we get the opportunity to feed Beardie and learn more about his daily habits. 

We had the Preschoolers engaged in drawing their portraits with Ms Kym, this gave us the opportunity to discuss similarities and differences in all of us. These are now on display in the Preschool room for all to see. 

A Busy Wednesday followed with sitting outside practicing our listening skills, gave us the opportunity to hear noises we may not usually pay attention to; the rustling of trees in the wind, the birds chirping, the big school kids playing and laughing and even a lawnmower. Learning the skill of listening is something we will continue to work on each week. 

We had lots of fun with playdough, being able to cut, roll and even make animal shapes with it. We are lucky enough to have the opportunity to use the St Anthony's adventure playground and the preschoolers have enjoyed playing in groups, turn taking and negotiating. The benefits of having the access to the adventure playground each day helps the preschoolers with their gross motor skills. 

Creating fairy gardens, playing in the sandpit, singing, dancing, obstacle course making is all additional fun activities we had on this week. We are enjoying watching the preschoolers grow more confident each day of attendance and seeing their growth in the everyday activities.
